introduction

KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) is the interface between a person and an IBM PC. The PCs in the LIC (Larg's Internet Cluster) are plugged into a KVM network.

I found a supplier of old hardware and bought some KVM gear to create the network.

I bought another vanload of stuff. The monitors are CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) - the old fat heavy ones, not the new thin lovely ones. The KVM cables are too old to remember USB. Does this matter? No. They are bulky, ugly, heavy and old, but they perform well enough for my needs.

The keyboards were thrown in for nothing. Do they have no resale value? Is the trader buttering me up for a return visit? Are they in fact knackered? No, they continue to work fine years later.
