The original name for the Netscape Navigator browser, which is supposedly a hybrid of the words "Mosaic" and "Godzilla." Web lore has it that Mozilla means "the beast (Godzilla) that ate Mozaic (the browser)." A green lizard image representing Mozilla was used by Netscape Corp. as their mascot, and a red version has become the icon of the mozilla browser.
